History
SEAS-NVE was established on through a merger between the energy companies SEAS and NVE.
The old companies SEAS and NVE were established in 1912 and 1913. Both companies began their business as limited companies, but in 1918 NVE was converted into a co-operative company.
Both companies were quietly doing business until 1989 when SEAS still a limited company was exposed to a hostile attempt from the Jomsberg Group to take over the company. The attempt almost succeeded, but was prevented at the last moment. To protect the company towards other attempts to take over the company, SEAS was converted into a co-operative company which is much more difficult to take over.
In 2000, a new energy law was passed and this law had decisive importance to all Danish energy companies. The liberated energy market became a reality and it resulted in a remarkable change in structure and owner conditions in the Danish energy sector. A number of mergers took place and companies joined.
The new conditions did of course have an effect on SEAS and NVE. After some informal discussions in the spring of 2003, the board of the two companies began serious negotiations. In April 2004, a proposal for a merger was ready, and during the summer of 2004 both committees of representatives decided to enter into a merger. The energy company SEAS-NVE was a reality.
