Thomas is a communications consultant at SEAS-NVE and works in the department of Group Communications & Relations. Here, he primarily works with project management of cross-disciplinary tasks and digitisation projects. A role, which has given him an extensive professional network, both internally and externally. As a project manager, it comes natural to Thomas to be the one who has the overview.
In my role, I don’t have to have all the answers, but I must know where in our organisation to find the answers. That is also why I suggested that I be placed in both departments, that is Haslev and Svinninge, to be closer to the colleagues with whom I work. Haslev is the technical part of our business, and I get an understanding of my colleagues’ world by working in both places.
Thomas acknowledges that it requires good planning to commute between two locations – but being an enthusiast for structure, that is no problem to him.
- My colleagues are good at booking me for meetings at times when my calendar shows I’m at their location. This close collaboration, face-to-face, helps me in solving my tasks with more facets and ideas. In that same way, our recent implementation of our new website was a lot more efficient as I was close to the people with the relevant input.
Thomas enjoys the high degree of freedom in planning his workday and appreciates the fact that in a large organisation like SEAS-NVE’s there is still ample room to make changes.
- When I first started, I was surprised at how much freedom was actually left for shaping my work. There is a very short road from thought to action – so if you get a good idea, or find that we should do something differently, you are welcome to give it a go.
